Today, Saturday 21st, I spoke at a four hour gathering of the Northern branch of the ACI. It was organised by Martin Murray, with help from a number of other people, and in my view it was a great success.
The North of Ireland has not been fertile ground for the ACP, with only a handful of members between the dioceses of Down & Connor, Dromore and Derry. So I would have considered that Martin and his group have an uphill struggle to stir up support for the reform movement up there.
On tomorrow, Saturday 21st February, I am giving two talks on Church Reform at an event organised by the northern branch of the Association of Catholics Ireland.
The event begins with tea and coffee at 10.30am, and the opening talk is at 11.00am. There will be plenty of time for discussion, and for input from the people attending.
It takes place at 174 Trust, Duncairn Avenue, Antrim Road, Belfast.
At the first session I intend to talk about the reforms that are needed in our Church, and link that up with the reform agenda of Pope Francis.
On Saturday I had a twenty minute interview on the Marian Finucane Show. But up this occasion it wasn’t Marian; it was Aine Lawlor who was doing the programme. I had never met Aine before, but of course knew her from all her years on Morning Ireland. Morning Ireland is a programme that seems to specialise in aggressive questioning of guests. I don’t particularly like that style of presentation. I find it irritating to listen to, and I don’t see that it achieves anything.
